Breast thermography is a non-invasive, radiation-free and compression-free screening tool that has been FDA approved since 1982. With over 1000 published studies citing the effectiveness in detecting early changes associated with breast cancer, this makes thermography an incredible tool for prevention.
Unlike mammography, which uses radiation and compression to visualize structural abnormalities in breast tissue, thermography employs infrared imaging to detect subtle physiological changes, such as increased blood flow to a developing tumor and inflammation, that may precede tumor development by months or even years.
This is an especially important screening tool for women with dense breast tissue, as mammography can potentially miss findings obscured. Other rare types of breast cancers like Inflammatory Breast Cancer (IBC) are not suitable for mammograms, as there is no tumor to be seen in this cancer, and compression would significantly worsen this condition.
